From October 31 to November 2, 2013, in Washington, D.C., the U.S. Conference on Adult Literacy (USCAL) will bring together a diverse group of national organizations that are committed to responding to the literacy and education needs of the nation and the world. USCAL 2013 will continue the momentum of USCAL 2011, which brought together organizations and service providers from the fields of adult literacy and basic education, workforce development, citizenship education, and health, financial, and digital literacy.

GED Writing Test - Scoring - Update 1/27/2012

GEDTS has invalidated the NYS Education Department's use of a "200" score for candidates whose Writing Test had a non-passing essay score. As of Wednesday, November 16, 2011, the standard score for Writing Test cases that had a non-passing essay score is "0". A hyphen (-) will continue to be used in cases where a candidate did not take a specific section of a test.

Online Professional Development

ProfessionalStudiesAE.org, offers you an opportunity to participate in high-quality online professional development brought to you by ProLiteracy and World Education. Each course is designed specifically for adult educators, and explores evidence-based practices that you can use in your work with adult learners. There are fees for some of the courses but many of them are free. ACCES/West RAEN can credit you staff development hours for your coursework on ProfessionalStudiesAE if you send us a quick email saying what course you have chosen and the date you plan to begin it.
